Phish Plan Holiday Shows
Phish are planning eight shows between Thanksgiving and New Year’s this year. The band kicks off a four-date trip around the Northeast November 28th on Long Island, New York, and then heads to Miami December 28th for a four-night stand leading up to New Year’s Eve.
A December 2nd date at Boston’s Fleet Center, the tour’s fourth stop, is being billed as the group’s twentieth anniversary show, even though Phish had long claimed to have played their first show at a Halloween party. “While the exact date has been the subject of some dispute over the years,” the band said in a statement, “carbon dating, diligent research, and a little common sense confirmed that December 2, 1983 was indeed the date of the band’s first show.”
Phish’s online ticketing system will offer limited tickets for all eight shows between September 22nd and September 29th. Tickets officially go on sale through Ticket Master on October 17th and 18th.
In the meantime, members are keeping busy with their various side projects: keyboardist Page McConnell’s side project Vida Blue will release their second album The Illustrated Band on October 14th; bassist Mike Gordon will tour in October to support his new solo album Inside In; and drummer Jon Fishman will play a handful of dates with Jazz Mandolin Project.
