David Lynch Pens Lyrics for Rock Album “Fox Bat Strategy”
Blue Velvet director David Lynch has been making lots of music news in recent months. He contributed artwork and vocals to Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse’s Dark Night of the Soul project, enlisted Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for a benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall and animated a Moby video.
Now the director also has a rock album of his own coming out. While Lynch doesn’t actually perform on Fox Bat Strategy: A Tribute to Dave Jaurequi, he contributes the lyrics which Jaurequi, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 50, sang. “This is what I call ‘modern ’50s’ music,” Lynch told EW about the project, with the site currently streaming the song “Shoot the Works.” The rest of Lynch’s band is comprised of session musicians from 1992’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. The seven-song album is due out June 30th. Check the track list after the jump.
