Kanye West Brushes Off 50 Cent’s Jabs
Kanye West has finally responded to 50 Cent‘s disses, but rather than fuel the fire, West took the high road by complimenting 50 and expressing disappointment that the Queens MC is starting beef yet again. As you may recall, when the two rappers released dueling albums in September 2007, 50 Cent dissed Kanye and attempt to start a feud. Last week, 50 Cent mocked Kanye’s singing skills on 808s & Heartbreak and called the album a “brick.” “Just as a real human being, I can’t say that it doesn’t affect me. I was such a fan of 50,” West told Bossip.com. “50 is one of those rappers that I said was the end all be all of what rap what supposed to be. Like a true iconic rapper.
“So, for me as a fan of him I felt like if he said something negative and tried to make it like I’m negative,” West said. “It’s almost like if a little kid walks up to you at the airport and is like, ‘Man, I love you so much,’ and then you spit on him.” Kanye wasn’t 50’s only target in the rapper’s recent barrage: Fiddy also called Lil Wayne a “junkie” and said Weezy’s over-saturation in the public eye would eventually end in his downfall.
Keep in mind, 50 Cent was supposed to have a new album out next week, Before I Self Destruct. We say “supposed to” because absolutely no one is talking about this record outside of those reporting on 50’s shit-talking. Perhaps that’s the reason why the album was pushed back to early 2009 without any fanfare (50 Cent mentioned the delay at Sundance, to HollyScoop).
“I could never have beef with anybody. I’m not here to beef with anybody. I’m trying to bring people together,” West said, unwilling to get into a war of words. “I realize that my success and my mouth and everything rub people the wrong way every now and then, but I’m not gonna have beef with anybody.”
