G Unit’s Buck Steps Out
Young Buck will be the next member of 50 Cent’s G Unit posse to step out as a solo artist with the August 24th release of Straight Out of Cashville.
Though Cashville is Young Buck’s first album, the Tennessee native has been on the scene for several years, including a busted stint with Cash Money Records that failed to yield an album.
Dr. Dre, Eminem and Lil’ Jon chip in with production on Cashville, while fellow southern rappers David Banner, Lil’ Flip and T.I. make guest vocal appearances.
“With me being from the south, I wanted to make this album like a G Unit South,” Buck said. “You’ll get more southern features than any other G Unit record. [But] it’s all the way street.”
Buck will likely benefit from 50 Cent’s midas touch with his record. While Eminem and Nelly have had mixed success breaking out solo members of their D12 and St. Lunatics crews, G Unit has fared pretty well. The Unit’s Lloyd Banks’ Hunger for More topped the charts for two straight weeks in July, selling 434,000 copies its first week in stores. A month later, the album remains in the Top Ten.
Straight Out of Cashville will be released the same day as the limited edition DVD G-Unit Collector’s Edition Vol. 2.
