Coroner: Jani Lane's death caused by 'acute ethanol intoxication'
Jani Lane, singer and songwriter for the glam-metal band Warrant, died of “acute ethanol intoxication,” the Los Angeles County coroner’s office has determined. The singer, born John Kennedy Oswald in Akron, Ohio, was found dead in a motel outside L.A. in August.

Lane, who was 47, was arrested twice for driving under the influence of alcohol after leaving his band in 2008. He wrote Warrant’s biggest hits, including “Heaven” and “Cherry Pie.” Most recently, Lane served a tour stint as singer for the band Great White.
