Lady Gaga Taps Katie Couric for Thanksgiving Special
Lady Gaga has enlisted Katie Couric to host a holiday special of Gaga’s own creation, A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, a 90-minute special set to air on ABC on November 24th. The program will feature an intimate look at the life of the pop chameleon, born Stefani Germanotta, interspersed with several performances taped in front of a small audience of family and friends.
“We all know Lady Gaga is a phenomenon,” said Couric in a statement. “This is a chance to see more of who she is beneath the wild costumes and staged musical numbers . . . She will impress you, delight you and surprise you.”
Perhaps most surprising is the extent to which viewers will apparently glimpse the famously character-driven performer’s behind-the-scenes life on the program. Given the implicit messages of Born This Way and Gaga’s recent announcement of her comprehensive youth-empowerment, anti-bullying organization, it sure seems she is prepared to step out as a role model on a large scale.
