Michael Jackson Fans Lobby to Cancel Tribute Concert
A coalition of 35 Michael Jackson fan clubs have joined forces to lobby for the cancellation of Michael Forever: A Tribute Concert, an event featuring performances by Christina Aguilera, Smokey Robinson and Cee Lo Green scheduled for October 8th in Wales. Beyoncé will also contribute to the concert with a performance beamed in via satellite.
In an open letter to concert organizer Global Live Events, the King of Pop’s fans criticized the timing of the show, which coincides with the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jackson, and expressed confusion over the event’s charitable donations and high ticket prices.

The letter also attacked Global Live Events for their no-guarantee policy regarding performers and took the company to task for booking Kiss, a band whose bassist Gene Simmons had publicly attacked Jackson, even though the band was removed from the bill last week.
