Paul McCartney Creates “New” Beatles Song
Five years after resurrecting the Beatles with “Free as a Bird,” Paul McCartney has put together another “new” Beatles song for release. “Free Now” features snippets of some Beatles recording sessions backed by the Welsh group Super Furry Animals (who recently issued Mwng, an album recorded entirely in Welsh). According to Britain’s Sun, the track is a club mix that sounds similar to the Chemical Brothers.
“It’s a new little piece of the Beatles,” McCartney told the tabloid. “It’s more underground than what you usually hear from me, but I like to be free enough to do this sort of thing.”
In addition to various sounds from the Fab Four’s native Liverpool, the song also features the voice of John Lennon. “OK Paul, you ready boy? This is it,” Lennon’s voice says in the track. “I feel it, I feel free now, free now,” McCartney responds.
McCartney told the paper that so far he has only been sending the track to radio stations but that demand for the song will ultimately direct it to release as a single or on an album under the name the “Liverpool Sound Collage.”
