Travers: ‘127 Hours’ Is One of the Year’s Best
This week, Peter Travers looks at two films that, as he notes, couldn’t be more different: the harrowing
127 Hours and the animated comedy
Megamind. Travers calls the former one of the best films of the year and singles out star James Franco as “one of the best actors of his generation.” The film is the real-life story of a man trapped in rock crevice in a remote part of the desert who ultimately cuts off his own arm to escape. Needless to say, it’s not for the squeamish. And while “Megamind,” featuring the voices of Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt, is a family-friendly alternative, Travers says if you think 127 Hours is too scary, “Man up out there!”
