Lil Wayne Pens Mother’s Day Letter on Weezy Thanx You Blog
Lil Wayne got a jump on this weekend’s Mother’s Day celebrations with a new entry on his Weezy Thanx You blog that encourages his fans to pause and show their moms appreciation. “The love between a mother and her offspring is hands down the most beautiful thing God created,” Weezy writes in only his third-ever post on his behind-bars blog. “More than money, more than fame, more than cars.”
As Rolling Stone previously reported, Lil Wayne launched Weezy Thanx You to keep in touch with fans while serving a year-long prison sentence at New York’s Rikers Island on weapons charges. After his introductory post, Tha Carter 3 rapper returned to his keyboard for an analysis of the Washington Redskins’ trade for quarterback Donovan McNabb. His Mother’s Day post may seem out of left field, but Lil Wayne is a man who understands the importance of mothers: From October 2008 to November 2009, he fathered children with three woman, bringing his total to four kids.
“To the mothers of my beautiful children, there remains nothing but love, adoration and respect coming from my heart,” Wayne writes in “A Mother’s Worth.” “Last but not least, my own mother, Ms. Cita. You are my heart and you are my soul. Please don’t ever forget that. We’ve been through everything one could possibly imagine together… Even writing this, it’s tough to come to grips with the fact I cannot spend this special day with you.”
Weezy ends his post with some scripture and a long thank-you list that ranges from fans who have sent him encouraging notes like “Chelsea from Pittsburgh” (“I honestly couldn’t read your letter from your handwriting. sorry but thanx anyway”) to K. Foxx, a DJ on New York hip-hop station Hot97 (“Tune is Tuned in to you in the morning”).
According to the countdown clock on Weezy Thanx You, the rapper will be released from jail in 180 days.
