U2 Drummer Makes Acting Debut
U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr. will make his first foray into acting in Man on the Train. The Irish-Canadian movie, also starring Donald Sutherland, is set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month. Mullen will play a mysterious stranger who arrives in a small town with plans to rob a bank. He is also one of the film’s co-producers. [BBC]
The Strokes Return to Studio
Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture confirmed that the band has already begun work on its fifth album as of yesterday. In a tweet, Fraiture said, “Super excited to go in to the studio today and work on some new ideas! I’ll keep you posted.” [NME]
Death Cab for Cutie Announce Summer Tour
Death Cab for Cutie will support the release of their new album, Codes and Keys, with a summer tour beginning at the LC Outdoor Amphitheater in Columbus, Ohio on July 23rd. The tour, which will include opening act Frightened Rabbit, will wrap up on August 23rd at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. [press release]
Bon Iver to Play Summer Dates
The first tour dates of Justin Vernon’s musical project Bon Iver, in support of his forthcoming album, Bon Iver, have been announced. He will perform with a nine-piece band at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee on July 23rd and the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn on August 10th. [press release]
