‘Glee’ Actors Not Departing After Third Season
Even though Glee creator Ryan Murphy recently claimed that much of his cast would leave the show after graduating at the end of the next season, it has been announced that key cast members Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith will stick around for season four in 2012.
Glee co-creator and executive producer Brad Fulchuk broke the news at the show’s Comic-Con panel yesterday, saying “because they’re graduating doesn’t mean they’re leaving the show. If you have Lea Michele under contract, you don’t say, ‘We’re gonna let you go.'”

Though this is certainly good news for Gleeks everywhere, it raises some questions about why Murphy had made so many bold claims about cutting several of his most popular characters. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter earlier this month, Murphy explained that he had talks with Michele and Colfer that resulted in the decision to write out their characters when they finished high school. “They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top,” he said. The actors later told the press that they had never talked with Murphy about leaving the show.
