One Direction Fans Camp Out in New York
One Direction fans have been camped out near Rockefeller Plaza in New York for as many as five days, eagerly awaiting the band’s November 13th performance on the Today show.

Teen Bonds
It only took a few minutes of waiting in line and a shared love of One Direction for Jasmine Bryant and a gang of nearby 15-year-olds to become fast friends.
-
Last First Kiss
Fans hoping to get the group's attention referenced One Direction lyrics on brightly colored signs.
-
Patiently Waiting
Best friends Alice Mitkova, 18, and Mahbuba Rehman, 19, were still smiles on their 115th hour in line. "It's a hard feeling to explain," said Rehman about what it's like to be in the front row at a One Direction concert (she hopes tomorrow will be her third time).
-
Reality Check
Four-year-old Mia, her older sister Sophia and their mother (not pictured) contemplated sleeping on 52nd street to keep their place in line for the morning. Said Mom, "Tomorrow I'm getting my head examined."
-
Huddled Masses
Teens and mothers huddled together in a line that stretched across five blocks, hoping for a glimpse of their heartthrobs.
-
Well Traveled
Alexa Tully, 13, traveled from Chicago to New York with her mother just to see One Direction – and to go shopping, of course.
-
Boy Band Fanboys
Brandon Giron and Alvi Hossain stood out as some of the only teenage boys camping in line. "I love the songs; they're all about love," said Giron, adding that he dedicates One Direction songs to his girlfriend.
-
May the Best Poster Win
Fans work hard on their posters to get the attention of Today show judges – the best poster will win its creators tickets to a future One Direction show.
-
Art Direction
Kiara Veloz, 17, nodded to One Direction's English roots in her poster, which she hopes will catch the eyes of not only the group members, but also the Today show judges.
-
Weather Cooperation
One Direction's most dedicated fans were rewarded with unseasonably mild weather on Monday afternoon.
-
Holiday Head Start
Veteran's Day gave kids an excuse to skip school and stake out their spot in the long line. Some parents had the day off, too, allowing them to keep tabs on the hysteria.
-
Superfan Gear
Three friends from Long Island planned their wardrobe in anticipation of the show, with another round of One Direction T-shirts ready for Tuesday.
-
Early Birds
Some fans began packing it up at around 1 p.m., having already scored the wristbands that would admit them to the show – but many still planned to stay overnight in the hopes of scoring a front-row view.
-
The Hours Paid Off
Fans keep track of their progress before the police-enforced camping break until 2 a.m. tonight.
