Fox Announces New Country Awards Show
Don’t look now, but there’s a new country music awards show in town. Fox, in conjunction with Cumulus Media and Dick Clark Productions, announced the arrival of the American Country Countdown Awards, to be held December 15th in Nashville.
Behind the Trophies: Dissecting Each of Country’s Big Awards Shows
Named after the long-running country radio countdown series, currently hosted by Kix Brooks, the American Country Countdown Awards will honor the best in country music and feature the requisite awards show performances.
Most importantly, the announcement also signals the end of the American Country Awards, Fox’s first foray into the crowded country awards field. A spokesperson for Fox confirmed to Rolling Stone Country that the ACAs, which premiered in 2010 and were hosted last year by Trace Adkins and NASCAR’s Danica Patrick, will not be returning to the schedule. Since their inception, the ACAs were held in Las Vegas; the new show will be staged in Music City.
The American Country Countdown Awards will also hand out a Nash Icon award, named after Cumulus’s Nash brand and the new legacy label it’s launching with Big Machine Label Group.
