Southern rocker Shooter Jennings is prepping for a busy 2013: On March 12th, he’ll release his sixth album The Other Life, which will be accompanied by a new film with the same title, made in collaboration with Blake Judd. Now you can take an exclusive listen to the album’s first single “The White Trash Song,” a quick-paced country rocker originally written by Steve Young, whose music and friendship Jennings says helped inspire his last record Family Man and parts of The Other Life.
Also be sure to check out a clip of the accompanying film, which follows a guy dressed as the grim reaper reviving a dying man – and enjoying himself a drink – while a mortician prepares a new subject, who bears a striking resemblance to the fellow in the hood. “Blake Judd approached me with an idea inspired by the album and its themes and between him, Kentucky writer RD Hall and myself,” Jennings said of the project. “The piece as a whole felt like a very strong storytelling counterpart to the album. I believe the images and impressions left by the film accent the darkness of the album in a really cool way. I’m proud of it.”
