Conan O’Brien Launches Team Coco Comedy Record Label
Conan O’Brien is making a foray into the record business with a new label – named Team Coco, of course – that will put out comedy records. Its goal is to highlight comedians on the rise and give them creative control and a larger stake in his or her record’s success, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Its first release is Ian Edwards’ 100% Half Assed, an album of stand-up comedy that the 2 Broke Girls writer recorded at La Jolla, California’s Comedy Store in March. Edwards has previously written for Saturday Night Live and The Boondocks, and has worked as the supervising producer on Adult Swim’s Black Dynamite. He recently launched the podcast Soccer Comic Rant on the network All Things Comedy and his Team Coco–released record will hit stores in June.

Previously, O’Brien has used the Team Coco banner for the comedy special Team Coco Presents: The Conan Writers Live and has highlighted some of the stand-ups who have passed through his studio on Conan After Hours, hosted by Pete Holmes.
10 Best and Worst Moments From the 2014 MTV Movie Awards
O’Brien recently took his own quirky brand of comedy to a larger audience when he hosted the MTV Movie Awards, opening his monologue with the line, “Welcome to the Satanic Cult Awards.” For the show, he managed to rope Taylor Swift, Skrillex, Grumpy Cat and many others into appearing in the show’s introduction.
