Blown Away
You won't find much that's new in this action scorcher about a brilliant psycho (Tommy Lee Jones) who makes life hell for the head of the Boston bomb squad (Jeff Bridges), his wife (Suzy Amis), his new recruit (Forest Whitaker) and his pet pig, if he had one. But with Bridges and Jones giving their explosive all, who cares if the script sounds like warmed-up leftovers from In the Line of Fire and Cape Fear? Director Stephen Hopkins, who added stylish heat to the B-movie formula of "Judgment Night," dishes out more nail-biting suspense and allows the special-effects team to blow up nearly everything in sight. As mindless summer fun goes, it's a blast.
