Homeboy Sandman, ‘Whatchu Want From Me’ – Premiere
Queens rapper Homeboy Sandman keeps it low-key in his new video for First of a Living Breed track “Whatchu Want From Me,” kicking rhymes while manning a food cart, cutting hair as a barber, and just chilling with a homegirl. The swift-tongued Ivy League grad stuffs his lines with hater repellent, but despite his New York roots, he reaches outside his ‘hood for an assist from D.C. rapper-producer Oddisee on the track.
“Soon as Oddisee played this beat for me, I knew the world was about to change – this ish was such critical knock. So then I figured, how about a few words for all the cats giving me a hard time lately?” Homeboy Sandman tells Rolling Stone. “Shouts to Tuff City, [who’s] not pictured, but invited us in with open arms to shoot the ill Homeboy Sandman the tattoo artist scene that perished in a technological tragedy. Also shouts to the lovely chested Gigi, whose ill ink will be the focus of future proceedings.”
