Miley Cyrus Uses Nipple Tape, Oil in Surreal Video
Even as she’s resting up from a tour-postponing allergic reaction, Miley Cyrus has found a way to make headlines – and it involves nipple tape. The singer’s current Bangerz tour opens with a surreal, provocative video directed by filmmaker/mixed-media artist Quentin Jones, and now Cyrus has offered up a stream of the jaw-dropping, two-minute clip.

Sure, button-pushing is part of the singer’s oeuvre, but Jones’ Dali-esque sensory overload takes the Cyrus spectacle to unexpected new heights. Cyrus dons an assortment of erotic accessories (fishnets, black nipple tape) and douses her torso in a mysterious black oil. The trippiest moment happens early, as her cartoonish eyelashes bloom into a flower-cum-mushroom cloud. (Plus, this being a Miley Cyrus video, there’s a copious amount of tongue-wagging.) All the weirdness is soundtracked by the throbbing electronic track “Stockholm Syndrome” by 30’s featuring Zoee, featuring suggestive lyrics like “Hold me down so it’s hard to breathe.”
Cyrus has been exploring her psychedelic side as of late. Back in March, she brought Flaming Lips leaders Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd onstage during a Tulsa gig to perform the band’s druggy sing-along “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (Part 1)”; that same week, Coyne revealed through an Instagram post that the two parties collaborated (along with MGMT) on a mind-altering Beatles cover: “Miley in the studio vomiting diamonds while singing Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds!!” Coyne wrote. “If you’re a Beatles and John Lennon freak you gonna love love love this track!!”
