Nervo on Their Debut Album, Working With Kylie Minogue and Ke$ha
“We have the best job in the world,” Oliva “Liv” Nervo – one half of the Australian DJ duo, Nervo – tells Rolling Stone. “When ravers go to a rave or a club, they’re there to just let go and have fun – the more people give us, the better the night is.”
Oliva and her sister Miriam (a.k.a. “Mim”), who were in New York for Rolling Stone and CoverGirl’s Top 25 DJs party, also chatted about their early days writing for pop stars like Ke$ha and Kylie Minogue and how it’s influenced their upcoming debut album. “When we started as ghostwriters you have to work within these paramaters, but our being and our love has always been a little more underground,” says Miriam. “What’s nice now about delving into the album is being able to mix the two, still satisfy our underground love with a bit more of our pop sensibility. I feel like the years that we worked for other artists like Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue and Ke$ha taught us a lot, which we’re really grateful for. It’s nice to be able to jump out and mix both worlds and call it Nervo.”
