Bret Michaels, Kristi Gibson Call Off Their Two-Year Engagement
Bret Michaels and longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson have called off their engagement, Us Magazine reports.
According to a statement from the Poison frontman’s representative, “Although the couple have separated they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters, Raine Elizabeth and Jorja Bleu.”
The couple became engaged in 2010 when Michaels proposed on the finale of his VH1 show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It. Earlier that year the couple stayed close as Michaels recovered from his brain hemorrhage and stroke.
Following the engagement, Michaels told Us, “She’s the one who put up with me all these years.”
Poison is currently out on their Rock of Ages tour alongside fellow Eighties hair metal favorites Def Leppard and Lita Ford, while Michaels is prepping for the September release of his new LP, Bret Michaels and Friends: Get Your Rock On.
“Every song on it is a collaboration with other musicians,” Michaels told Rolling Stone recently about the project. “And it’s such a diverse range of people, from Loretta Lynn and Joe Perry [who play on a reworking of the Poision hit “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”] and Jimmy Buffett to Lil Jon, Michael Anthony, Ace Frehley, all the Skynyrd guys, guys from .38 Special and Blackfoot and Rascal Flatts’ Jay [DeMarcus]. These are friends and people I’ve played with, partied with, jammed with throughout the years.”
