Jennifer Lopez Creates ‘Idol’-ish Show for Latin America
Jennifer Lopez has teamed up with American Idol creator and executive producer Simon Fuller to create a new singing competition. The series, which has the working title Que Viva and is currently being shopped around to various networks, would feature Lopez and her husband, Marc Anthony, touring Latin America searching for undiscovered vocalists.

Though this new show is still in the early development stages, it puts Lopez’s future as a judge on American Idol in some question. The singer is signed on to only one season of Idol, but her contract is likely to be renewed given that she is a big part of the success of the show’s new panel of judges. It’s definitely possible that Lopez could do both shows concurrently – Simon Cowell also appeared on the British version of The X Factor for years while serving as a judge on Idol, and Ellen DeGeneres kept hosting her popular daytime talk show during her brief run on the series.
