Bikini Kill Launch Record Label, Prep Reissues
Riot grrl pioneers Bikini Kill are launching their own label, Bikini Kill Records, for the release of a handful of reissues to mark the group's 25th anniversary, Pitchfork reports.
The first release – a reissue of the band's 1992 self-titled EP – will come this fall. Also on deck is the original Bikini Kill demo tape with previously unreleased material.
The band – who called it quits in 1998 – is currently digging through their archives in search of other material. They are considering songs, zines, live recordings, photos, show flyers, practice tapes and films for future release. Bikini Kill has also made their entire catalog, as well as releases from side projects the Casual Dots and the Frumpies, available to stream and download on their Bandcamp page.
