The Hold Steady Announce “Heaven Is Whenever” Tour
To celebrate the release of their new album Heaven is Whenever (due May 4th), the Hold Steady will hit the road for gigs that stretch from Hawaii to New York. The Brooklyn-via-Twin Cities rockers launch their trek the day before Heaven arrives, capping the month with a May 29th show at Washington’s Sasquatch! Festival. They’ll return from Europe in early July for another jaunt through the Midwest, pausing for a bit before a big Beacon Theatre concert in New York on October 7th. If you weren’t fortunate enough to pick up a pre-release vinyl copy of Heaven during Record Store Day, you can listen to the full album stream on NPR.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Hold Steady recently parted ways with accordionist/keyboardist Franz Nicolay, but when Rob Sheffield caught the Hold Steady’s recent festive NYC homecoming doubleheader at the Bowery Ballroom and the Music Hall of Williamsburg, the band boasted a revamped lineup featuring new recruits keyboardist Dan Neustadt and guitarist Steve Selvidge.
