Christina Aguilera, Jonas Brothers Surprise Perez Hilton at Birthday Bash
Taking a cue from Hollywood’s most enduring icon, Marilyn Monroe, Christina Aguilera hit the Sunset Strip on Saturday night to toast the town’s reigning king of gossip, Perez Hilton. Rocking a leopard print body-suit, fish nets and black knee-high boots, the rarely seen pop star (with her husband Jordan Bratman in tow) made a surprise appearance at L.A.’s famed Viper Room, where, following a fierce performance of “Lady Marmalade” (the 2001 remake version), she serenaded the celebrity blogger and birthday boy with a sultry “happy birthday, dear Perez-ident.”
In recent years, Hilton, who’s an avid music fan and sometimes A&R scout, has made an annual tradition of celebrating his birthday twice — first hosting a big South By Southwest blow-out in Austin, where Kanye West, Solange, the Indigo Girls and Little Boots performed on March 21st, and later a smaller, more intimate bash for close friends, family and celebrity fans. Among the famous faces who crowded into the tiny Viper Room for the second go-round were Perez besties Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and Amanda Bynes, random pals like Salman Rushdie, and Meghan McCain, along with frequent — and forgiving — targets Tara Reid, Steve-O, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Also making an appearance: the Jonas Brothers, who came from the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards held earlier in the evening, brought out a cake and led the room in the first “Happy Birthday” chant of the night.
“I was genuinely shocked and so pleasantly surprised that they were there,” gushed Hilton post-soirée. “Because at the Kids Choice Awards, they were asked if they’d make it to my party and said they couldn’t because they had to go see the Honor Society play [at the House of Blues]. So it meant a lot to me that they took the time to come sing me happy birthday.”
Donning a black kilt that he picked up “at a gay leather/S&M store in Silverlake” and neon pink Doc Martins lace-up boots, Hilton reveled in a sea of admirers and what can only be described as the ultimate gift: a one-song performance by Aguilera, complete with four shirtless male dancers and plenty of pink feathered boas. “It was the ultimate ultimate,” said Hilton, still in disbelief at the end of the night. “Last year, I had the Pussycat Dolls perform at my birthday celebration. This year, Christina Aguilera. That’s pretty fucking amazing!”
