Gene Simmons Says “American Idol” ‘s Adam Lambert Is No Rock Singer
It seems everybody’s got an opinion on this week’s American Idol finale. Kiss bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons, who generally has an opinion on everything, is no different.
On Simmons’s Website, he’s been answering questions from fans about the band’s appearance on Wednesday’s jaw-dropping Idol finale, including his opinion on this year’s runner-up, the guyliner-lovin’ Adam Lambert. Does Gene think Lambert has a promising career in rock ‘n’ rolling all night? Not quite.
“Respectfully, I don’t think Adam is a rock singer,” Simmons writes. “He sounds much more convincing singing ballads and Broadway shows. His voice doesn’t seem to have a ‘rock quality.’ But, I’m sure he’s going to do just fine.”
When asked, based on Lambert and Allen’s performances with the band during the season finale, which of the two he’d throw his own money behind as they build their careers, Simmons was succinct.
“Adam.”
Do you agree with Simmons? Does Lambert have a good enough voice to become the next rock God? Share your comments with us below.
