Wyclef Jean Claims He Was Shot During Political Rally in Haiti
UPDATE: Reuters has reported that Vanel Lacroix, the police chief of the town where Jean is staying, says that he was not shot, but was instead cut by broken glass.
Wyclef Jean was treated and released from a hospital in Haiti yesterday after an incident on Saturday night in Delmas, a city just outside Port-au-Prince. Jean claims that he was grazed by a bullet during a campaign rally for musician and presidential candidate Michel “Sweet Micky” Martelly on the evening before the runoff election for president of Haiti. The rapper had previously attempted to run for president of Haiti himself, but was barred by the country’s board of elections.

According to Jean’s representatives, the wound was only superficial. No further details have been released regarding the event, and whether or not the shooter was apprehended. Some reports suggest that Jean was traveling in a car with his entourage and Busta Rhymes at the time of the shooting, but only Jean was injured.
