Bruno Mars, Just Arrested, Takes Number One on Hot 100
Bruno Mars may have been arrested for cocaine possession in Las Vegas last weekend, but there’s now some good news for the up-and-coming R&B singer: His single “Just the Way You Are” hit number one on the
Billboard Hot 100, jumping two spots to seize first place from Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.” This is Mars’ first number one as a solo artist. He guested on B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You,” which went to the top of the Hot 100 in May; collaborated with Travie McCoy on “Billionaire,” which peaked at number four (and appeared on on Glee‘s season premiere); and co-wrote Cee-Lo’s “Fuck You,” which has climbed to 35.
Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World),” her first single from Loud, had the chart’s biggest jump, moving from 75 to number three. The week’s highest debut: Kings of Leon’s “Radioactive,” at 37. That’s the band’s second-best Hot 100 spot behind “Use Somebody,” which reached number four in 2008.
