Depeche Mode Offers iTunes “Season Pass” for Upcoming “Sounds of the Universe”
To help fans get amped for Depeche Mode’s new album Sounds of the Universe, the band has teamed up with Apple to feature the first “iTunes Pass” dedicated to an artist. Starting today, fans can purchase the pass for $19, which will give them access to exclusive songs, remixes, videos and more that’s doled out over the course of the weeks leading up to Universe‘s April 15th release.
iTunes is currently offering the album’s first single “Wrong,” as well as a remix of the Black Light Odyssey Dub Remix of the new track “Oh Well.†More content will be streamed out over the course of 15 weeks, each delivered directly into the consumers’ iTunes library when it becomes available. In April 15th, everyone who purchased the Pass will automatically receive their digital copy of Sounds of the Universe.
“The relationship between Depeche Mode and their fans has always been our top priority,” Depeche Mode’s manager Jonathan Kessler said in a press release. “We are thrilled to be the first to participate with Apple in giving fans the kind of deep musical experience they expect from Depeche Mode.” iTunes had previously issued Season Passes for fans of television shows. Depeche Mode marks the first time the feature has revolved around a musical artist.
Sounds of the Universe is Depeche Mode’s first album since 2005’s Playing the Angel. The video for first single “Wrong” has already found its way onto Dailymotion. Depeche Mode will also embark on a U.S. jaunt dubbed the “Tour of the Universe” — we tracked the dates yesterday.
