Dave Matthews Band Schedule Year-Long Break From the Road
After rocking sold-out amphitheatres for 20 consecutive summers, the Dave Matthews Band will finally take a long-deserved vacation in 2011, the band revealed to fans in an e-mail today. “We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people’s lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible,” the band said in a statement. “We’re excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012.”
Before they take their year-long break, Dave Matthews Band will hit the road for another summer tour; the 49-date trek kicks off May 28th with a pair of shows in Hartford, Connecticut. The tour will also include a headlining slot at this summer’s Bonnaroo in June and two shows at New York’s Citi Field on July 16th and 17th. The long jaunt finally wraps up September 15th in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The band didn’t divulge plans for what they’d be doing on their time off. Matthews’ rep also couldn’t provide any details to Rolling Stone, but a year-long hiatus leaves open the possibility of DMB hitting the studio, Matthews touring with Tim Reynolds or working on a solo album.
