Lead Actress Quitting ‘Spider-Man’ Musical
Natalie Mendoza, an actress who suffered a concussion during Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark’s first preview performance a month ago, is in talks to leave the show. The exit agreement is still in the works, but an official announcement regarding her departure is expected on Tuesday.

This is only just the latest set-back for the troubled production, which has weathered a number of cast injuries, cast departures and show cancellations since opening in November after several delays.
Mendoza played the role of Arachne, a villain created for the production by director Julie Taymor. Mendoza worked closely with Taymor in developing the character for the stage, and sang lead on the show’s title song, which was penned by U2’s Bono and the Edge.
