Beck, Dead Weather Tapped for ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Soundtrack
Twilight producers have made it a mission to provide their Twihard fans with stellar tunes to accompany each film — and the soundtrack for the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is no exception. Muse, Vampire Weekend, the Dead Weather and Beck (joined by Bat For Lashes) will all contribute new songs to Eclipse. Band of Horses, the Black Keys, Metric, UNKLE, Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo Green, Florence and the Machine and Sia round out the disc’s eclectic lineup. As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Eclipse soundtrack hits stores June 8th, three weeks ahead of the movie’s June 30th theatrical release, while the soundtrack’s first single (Muse’s “Neutron Star Collision”) will debut on May 17th.
Emily Haines of Metric, who contributed the new track “Eclipse (All Yours),” posted on the band’s website today that she was shocked when she heard the film’s producers were interested in her work, and strove to be sure “Eclipse” vibed with the saga of Bella Swan. “The lyrics would have to be in the voice of Bella, and we had to stay within the confines of harmonic and melodic themes Howard had in mind for the last scene,” she writes.
Coincidentally, Beck’s contribution to the soundtrack marks the second time this week the songwriter has offered a new track to a vampire-related soundtrack: Just days ago, it was revealed that Beck had recorded “Bad Blood” for the True Blood soundtrack.
