Rolling Stones Joke About Justin Bieber ‘Exile’ Cameo on ‘Fallon’
The new issue of Rolling Stone celebrates the legacy of Exile on Main Street, and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon is doing the same, paying tribute to the Rolling Stones‘ epic 1972 double album with a week’s worth of special performances.
Last night the show ran a hilarious Pros & Cons segment that featured Mick Jagger and Keith Richards talking about the good and the bad of the Exile reissue (watch it now on Fallon‘s site). Of the 10 previously unreleased tracks on the Exile reissue, Jagger admits that three were penned by Justin Bieber, while Richards reveals that they “Auto-Tuned the shit out of them.” Even the “very excited” Charlie Watts makes a cameo in the segment. When the Stones say they won’t sell out by using the Exile tracks as product placement, Jagger makes one exception: “Unless it’s for the KFC Double Down Sandwich. It’s two fried chicken breasts, Jimmy. No bun! That’s crazy! Crazy delicious.”
Sheryl Crow also appeared on the show to perform a cover of Exile‘s “All Down the Line.” Crow was joined by Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell, who sat in with Keith Urban for “Tumblin’ Dice” the night before, as well as Fallon house band the Roots. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Green Day punked out “Rock This Joint” and Taj Mahal delivered “Shine a Light” on Monday’s episode. Phish, who previously covered Exile in Main Street in its entirety at Festival 8, will close out the performances tonight, while tomorrow’s episode will feature the debut of the documentary Stones in Exile.
