U2’s Bosnia Show Never Planned As A Benefit
Contrary to reports published on Monday, the Sept. 23 U2 concert in Sarajevo, Bosnia was never a fundraising show. The approximately $14,000 that was left over after the show did, however, go to charity, according to a spokesman for the band.
The PA News Centre reported the concert was a benefit show and that only a little money was left over to donate to the people of Bosnia. However, U2 set up this show as a social event, giving the people of Bosnia something they don’t normally get — a rock concert.
Tickets for the PopMart show in the war-torn country only cost Bosnians approximately $13. Further, U2 not only donated their time and didn’t receive any profits from the concert, our source said, but the concert also provided jobs for many local people.
