‘Toy Story’ Writer Lands Next ‘Star Wars’ Screenplay
Screenwriter Michael Arndt, whose credits include Toy Story 3 and a co-write on the next Hunger Games installment, will write the script for the next Star Wars movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Arndt also wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning Little Miss Sunshine.
Arndt is said to be a major fan of the Star Wars saga. The new film, due in 2015, is expected to feature at least some of the familiar characters from past films in the franchise, with speculation about appearances by original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and possibly Harrison Ford. Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, who is overseeing the new round of Star Wars films recently announced after Disney acquired the company for a reported $4 billion, is expected to hire a director next.
