Def Leppard to Include New Recorded Songs on Upcoming Live Album
Though Def Leppard‘s forthcoming record Mirrorball is a live album, it will include three new studio recordings. According to frontman Joe Elliott, the band originally intended to include two new bonus tracks, but they were so inspired in the studio that it ended up becoming three – “Undefeated,” “All About Believin'” and “Kings of the World.” Elliott says that a fourth song was also in the works, but that will be saved for the band’s next studio album, which they intend to release in 2012. The band will begin work on that record after they complete their summer tour with Heart.

The live portion of Mirrorball will contain perfect, unedited performances of the band’s biggest hits. Whereas many bands only record a handful of shows for their live discs, Elliott says that Def Leppard recorded and rated every concert they performed between 2008 and 2009. “Somebody makes the odd mistake and they don’t want it going out forever, so they go in and clean it up,” he told Billboard. “We didn’t have to do that because we just chose the versions that had no mistakes on them. A very nice luxury. Thank you, technology.”

Mirrorball is set to come out sometime this summer, accompanied by a book, Def Leppard: The Definitive Visual History, which will feature 30 years of photographs by Ross Halfin.
