Wild Flag Get friendly at Coachella
The all-female rock supergroup Wild Flag may be experimenting with “extreme tempo” on their recently debuted new material, as singer-guitarist Mary Timony joked at Rolling Stone‘s Coachella Rock Room party, but they’re also taking time to bask in each other’s company. She and keyboardist Rebecca Cole, both vanguard riot grrl musicians (along with current bandmates Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss), sport “Best Friends” split necklaces, that staple of teenage girls the world over.
“I think this may be my first one,” noted Cole of the token, which the duo won for knowing “marginally little” about each other during a Newlywed Game-style band interview.
“I know. Me too!” added Timony, before quipping, “I mean, I didn’t know that I’m your first best friend.”
