Jack White Injured in Crash
Jack White was involved in an automobile accident in his hometown
of Detroit on July 9th and suffered a compound fracture of his left
index finger. As a result of the crash, the White Stripes will have
to pull out of two headlining gigs at the T in the Park Festival in
Scotland and the Witness Festival in Ireland. The Flaming Lips will
fill in for the Stripes at both events.
The White Stripes were scheduled to launch a twenty-six-date
U.S. tour in support of this year’s Elephant on July 19th
in Providence, Rhode Island. The string of dates, which includes a
brief break in August for the Reading and Leeds Festival in the
U.K., is currently scheduled to run through September 25th,
followed by a tour of Japan in late October. There is no word yet
as to whether the injury will affect the tour, according to a
source at V2 Records, the band’s label.
