Foxy Brown Sentenced to One Year in Jail
Apparently violating your probation with violent BlackBerry-hurling incidents and bizarre traffic stops has severe consequences: The Associated Press reports that a pregnant Foxy Brown (real name: Inga Marchand) has been sentenced to one year in jail by a Brooklyn, New York judge. Brown returned to prison August 22 for throwing a BlackBerry at a neighbor who complained about the volume of her stereo, and for traveling out of state (she was pulled over in New Jersey and at first gave the officer false information as to her identity), as both incidents violated her probation. That original probation sentence (which was handed down in October 2006) stemmed from an August 2004 incident at a New York nail salon, where the rapper allegedly attacked a manicurist.
Brown was also arrested at a Florida beauty-supply store and possibly robbed back home in New York in June. According to reports, Brown — who has stopped attending her anger-management classes — told the judge in court today, “I’m willing to do whatever I need to do to change. I realize that’s not where I want to be. It’s humbled me in ways I never imagined.” Judge Jackson replied, “Ms. Marchand, it’s too little, too late. I’m glad you’re learning something; that’s a positive.” Interestingly, Brown’s sentence is nearly identifical to that of Lil’ Kim, who was sentenced to a year in jail in September 2005 (a year a day, to be exact) for three counts of perjury and conspiring to lie to a grand jury. Kim served ten months of her sentence, and was released on July 3, 2006.
