Steven Tyler has told Billboard that Aerosmith will be performing on the season finale of American Idol. The appearance has not been officially confirmed, but he says “it was always my intention, always, to get Aerosmith on the show.” [Billboard]
R.E.M. to Reissue ‘Lifes Rich Pageant’
R.E.M. have announced that their fourth album, Lifes Rich Pageant, will be reissued to celebrate the record’s 25th anniversary on July 12th. The 2-CD and digital edition will include 19 previously unreleased recordings including early versions of songs from the album, various rarities and one song called “Wait” that has never been officially released in any form. Lifes Rich Pageant will also be reissued on premium-quality vinyl without bonus material. [R.E.M. HQ]
Mariah Carey Announces Baby Names
Mariah Carey and her husband, Nick Cannon, have revealed the names of their twins, who were born over the weekend. Their son will be called Moroccan Scott Cannon, and their daughter will go by Monroe Cannon. Monroe, named after actress Marilyn Monroe, has no middle name, just like her mother. [Reuters]

‘Songs for Japan‘ Raises $5 Million
Songs for Japan, a compilation album featuring tracks from a host of major stars including U2, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Bob Dylan and John Lennon, has raised $5 million for the Japanese Red Cross Society. Over 500,000 copies of the set have been sold since it was released on March 25th. [Reuters]
