Metallica Bring Free DVD
Metallica‘s St. Anger, due June 10th, will include a free DVD featuring live versions of all its eleven songs. Wayne Isham, who has worked on a number of the band’s videos (including “Enter Sandman” and “Wherever I May Roam”), is directing the project.
“There will be no fancy shit, just Metallica doing what they do best, kicking your ass,” reads a message on the band’s Web site. “And don’t worry, the CD will be regularly priced — we just wanna throw in some extra free shit for you guys.”
Filming of six of the eleven tunes began March 21st at Metallica’s rehearsal space outside San Francisco. Footage of the remaining five songs will be shot soon.
Isham’s DVD footage differs from the Metallica documentary currently being shot by Bruce Sinofsky and Joe Berlinger, who also filmed Paradise Lost: The Child Murders of Robin Hood Hills. “There’s close to a thousand hours of footage,” drummer Lars Ulrich said of that project. “In our more self-centered moments we prefer to call it a ‘film.'”
Metallica will also launch the massive Summer Sanitarium tour with Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit on July 4th at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan.
