Big Boi Starts Label With 16-Year-Old Daughter
Outkast rapper Big Boi has announced that he is starting a new record label called Purple Kidz with his 16-year-old daughter, Jordan. Big Boi says that the label is essentially a Sweet 16 gift for his daughter, but one that he hopes will encourage her in creative pursuits. “I wanted to give my child something that she can grow and build and nurture. So I gave her her own label,” he told Billboard. The label’s first signing is Gabbie Rae, a 12-year-old rapper who recently appeared on The Tyra Banks Show. [Billboard]

Pete Doherty Will Not Be Charged for Death
Libertines and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty will not be charged in the death of an actor at a party he attended in London back in 2006. Investigations had indicated that Doherty was involved in a confrontation with Mark Blanco shortly before the actor fell from a balcony, which resulted in fatal injuries. Ultimately, no conclusive evidence was found to suggest that Blanco was pushed or thrown off the balcony. [BBC]
