Christina Aguilera Joins Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine on NBC’s New Singing Competition
Christina Aguilera will be joining Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine as a judge on the forthcoming NBC singing competition The Voice. Aguilera had been rumored to be the third judge for weeks, but the singer’s participation in the show was formally announced earlier today. The show is set to premiere on April 26th with Carson Daly as the host.

The Voice is an American version of a popular series from Holland. The program distinguishes itself from similar competitions such as American Idol and The X-Factor with its unique audition process in which the judges cannot see the singers as they perform, allowing them to assess their talent without being biased by their image.

This new gig could put Aguilera’s career back on track. In the past year, her comeback album Bionic flopped, she was forced to cancel her tour and she was widely criticized for flubbing the lyrics of “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl. Her personal life has been difficult as well – in addition to getting divorced last year, the singer was arrested on Monday for public intoxication.
