Motley Crue Land in L.A.
The four original members of Motley Crue — vocalist Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist Mick Mars — announced their first tour in six years at a Hollywood press conference Monday. Held at the Palladium, the conference was full of most of the grandeur one would expect from one of the Eighties’ biggest hard rock bands: The Crue were prevented by the fire marshal from landing a helicopter in the parking lot, so they arrived by hearse instead.
“What’s important right here right now is the fans want it,” Lee told Rolling Stone of the tour, which kicks off February 17th in Florida.
Following a brief Q&A session, the group ripped through a five-song set, before an audience of enthusiastic fans, beginning with “Dr. Feelgood” and including “Wild Side,” “Shout at the Devil” and the new atmospheric hard rocker “If I Die Tomorrow.”
“It’s us evolving and growing,” Sixx said of the song. “And we don’t really give a fuck about rules. We just want to make music.” “If I Die Tomorrow” is one of three new songs that will appear on the two-CD anthology, Red, White & Crue, due in February.
The band shot a video for the song in secret. “We’re professional liars,” Sixx told Rolling Stone. “I looked right at this radio station guy’s face in this interview and said, ‘Dude, there’s no way we’re getting back together.’ I got a call from him [saying], ‘Thanks, fucker.'”
