TLC Plan Return to Stage
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas will perform as
TLC at New Jersey’s Giants’ Stadium June 1st, their first concert
together since bandmate Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was killed in a car
accident in Honduras last April 25th.
A spokesperson for TLC denied reports that the concert will
necessarily be their farewell performance. Arista is planning to
release a TLC hits compilation this fall that could include new
songs.
Last November, the band released 3D, an album that was
in progress at the time of Lopes’ death. The three women formed the
group in Atlanta in 1991, and debuted with 1992’s Ooooooohhh .
. . On the TLC Tip, before breaking through with
Crazysexycool two years later.
TLC’s June appearance is part of New York radio station Z100’s
annual Zootopia festival. Also on the bill are Ashanti, Ja Rule,
Simple Plan, Bowling for Soup and ‘N Sync’s JC Chasez.
