Skrillex Solves Feuds With Light Sabers in ‘Ragga Bomb’ Video
In the new video for “Ragga Bomb” – Skrillex‘s collaboration with British jungle mainstays Ragga Twins off the former’s new record Recess – feuds are sorted out the old fashioned way: with dance-offs and light sabers.
Directed by Terence Neale and shot in Johannesburg and Alexandra, South Africa, the video follows groups of scavengers from two rival factions as they navigate a post-apocalyptic landscape marred by burning buildings, detritus and dance troupes. The groups finally meet in an abandoned warehouse where their leaders bust out the Jedi tricks for an over-the-top light sabre showdown that leaves one man victorious, though it’s unclear which one.
15 Ways Skrillex Changed the World
Skrillex released Recess as a surprise album back in March as part of his “Alien Ride” app. The record marks his first official full-length album and features a slew of guest appearances, including spots from Diplo, Chicago MC Chance The Rapper and K-Pop stars G-Dragon and CL.
The EDM star recently graced the cover of Rolling Stone as well, where he described his music as “vibescapes.” “There’s always a foundation under the tracks that you can feel and pick up on. An emotion,” Skrillex continued. “There’s a lot of organic samples: wind, breaths, clocks cut into tiny pieces.”
Following recent sets at the Winter Music Conference and the Ultra Music Festival – where he performed with Diplo as Jack U – Skrillex will hit Coachella before embarking on his extensive “Mothership” tour this summer. The trek kicks off on May 23rd at the Zoo Amphitheatre in Oklahoma City, stopping at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo before wrapping up at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine on July 30th.
