Week in Review: Pearl Jam Celebrate 20 Years of Rock
Pearl Jam kicked off their 20th anniversary celebration this weekend with a two-day blowout festival in East Troy, Wisconsin featuring performances by the Strokes, Mudhoney, Queens of the Stone Age and a Temple of the Dog reunion. Rolling Stone was there, and we filed a full report on the show. We also have an exclusive excerpt of Pearl Jam Twenty, the companion book for Cameron Crowe’s new documentary of the same name, in which the band reveals the democratic creative process that resulted in their 2002 album Riot Act.

Also, Rolling Stone excerpted Marc Spitz’s new book Jagger: Rebel, Rock Star, Rambler, Rogue, chatted with Don Henley about his fight to regain his copyrights, learned why the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith decided not to tour with Chickenfoot, discussed grunge’s legacy with Mudhoney’s Mark Arm, found out that Peter Hook is pissed off about New Order’s upcoming reunion shows, and chatted with Joe Jonas and Jimmy Cliff about their latest albums.

On the pop culture front, we put a spotlight on all our favorite new comedians, previewed the best movies of the fall, reviewed the creepy new Steven Soderbergh movie Contagion, Rob Sheffield lamented the “twilight of the bros” and we recapped the latest episodes of Jersey Shore and True Blood.
We also posted a gallery of your Top 10 favorite songs of summer 2011 as determined by your votes on Facebook and Twitter. Our question for you this weekend is: What is the best Pearl Jam song of all time? You can answer on our website, on facebook.com/rollingstone or on Twitter with the #weekendrock hashtag.
