Lady Gaga Finishing New Album From Tour Bus
When Rolling Stone‘s Neil Strauss caught up with Lady Gaga for our cover story (on sale at newsstands now), the pop superstar revealed that though she’s currently on a massive arena tour behind The Fame Monster, she’s already at work on its follow-up: “Some artists take years. I don’t. I write music every day.” She proved the point this week, telling fans she skipped a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio to lay down a fresh track.

“Emerging from studio coma. voted no visit to rocknroll hall of fame, rather write a hit that puts me in it,” she tweeted. At her show that night, she told the crowd of “little monsters” about her afternoon spent writing on her tour bus. “I wrote a Number One record in Cleveland,” she said from the stage. While she didn’t unveil the song at the show, Gaga has been road testing fresh material. As Rolling Stone previously reported, recent shows have featured a new, Elton John-ish track titled “You and I.”

Lady Gaga tells Rolling Stone the album will be released at the top of 2011, and she plans to announce its title at midnight on New Year’s. “I always have these concept records,” she says. “I just sort of spiritually harness on to something, and then everything grows out of this one seed.” She adds, “I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now.”
