With a sound that’s rooted in deep reverb-drenched psychedelia, it seems only appropriate that Still Corners would point to key influences from earlier generations. But for “Into the Trees,” the first single from the band’s upcoming Sub Pop debut, Creatures of an Hour, they reveal that they actually took their inspiration from a literary source.
“The song is a response to a quote from Jack Kerouac,” explains band member Greg Hughes. “‘Ah, life is a gate, a way, a path to Paradise anyway, why not live for fun and joy and love or some sort of girl by a fireside, why not go to your desire and LAUGH…'”
The album is slated to drop on October 11th, but you can download “Into the Trees” here, now.
