Premiere: Anthony Green, ‘Moon Song’
In January, Anthony Green released his second solo album, Beautiful Things, on Photo Finish. In June, the singer-guitarist –who also fronts the alt-rock outfit Circa Survive – will tour in support of the record; before then, you can check out a live clip of Green and his band ripping through the album cut “Moon Song” during a February show at the Fox Theatre in Pomona, California.
“This live version is very different from the album version,” says Green. “Every night on tour, when I would get to the part at the end where I would scream ‘Lay down!’ I would get that high feeling that is the reason I make music and perform. We play off of cues and improvise a lot during the set, which is something I don’t get to do in Circa Survive very much; on this version, you can hear me yelling ‘Kill it!’ to our drummer Tim Arnold because it was going on so long and I felt like I was going to pass out.”
“The song is about feeling stuck,” he adds. “I wanted to write something that started out with one feeling and ended on another, taking you on a little journey.”
